Claire Trotman
"I used to be a fitness instructor and taught Zumba classes for 3+ years. In my mid-twenties, I quit my ‘proper’ job and spent the summer in Greece teaching fitness classes on a beach resort, and this is where I met my husband, James. I’m a big believer in things happening for a reason!"
What specific skills do you bring to the Blue Gnu team?
I support Blue Gnu with all things marketing and have a very creative eye and ‘can-do’ attitude. In the words of Richard Branson “Say yes – then learn how to do it later” is often my motto here. My background in events management and wedding planning means that I’m very organised and thrive in a fast-paced environment – which comes in useful with last minute workshop bookings!
Who is Claire?
I live my life by the motto ‘If you stand still there is only one way to go, and that’s backwards’. I love going on adventures, trying new things, meeting new people – this is what brings me the most joy! I grew up in Dorset on the South Coast, but relocated to the beach in West Sussex back in 2020 mid-lockdown (yes, I was one of those crazy people moving house during a global pandemic!). In the summer, I spend most weekends walking our Labrador along the beach and sailing with my husband. In the winter, you’ll find me hibernating and dreaming of the mountains – I learnt to ski 8 years ago and it’s stolen my heart!
What is your passion and mission?
Why do you do what you do?
Helping people is what drives me to do what I do. When you’re happy, I’m happy. Whether that’s delivering Insights workshops and helping individuals with their self/team development, or supporting Blue Gnu behind the scenes, if I’m helping to make a positive change, I know that I’m making a difference to someone’s life.
What qualifications do you bring to the Blue Gnu team?
In summer 2022, I qualified as an Insights Discovery Practitioner. Having worked ‘behind the scenes’ for 3+ years, I’m now excited to start delivering workshops and using this amazing tool to support teams.
What is the most interesting Blue Gnu project you've worked on?
I love getting creative and have a passion for event planning, so I think it would have to be the management of event logistics and stand design of our first big trade show, The Festival of Work in London.
Who would your dream client be and why?
I’m a crazy dog mum, so working with a dog charity or similar would be incredible. I’m obsessed with the TV show ‘The Dog House’ and cry every time a rescue is matched with a new family. Insights for dogs? Now there’s an idea!
What does your Insights Discovery profile say about you?
